Planet Zoo 2 East Africa Bronze Guide: Aardvarks, Aviary & Giraffes
The Planet Zoo 2 East Africa Bronze tutorial teaches several core zoo-management systems in one progression: building an aardvark habitat, meeting animal welfare needs, constructing a shoebill aviary, expanding the keeper staff, and preparing a giraffe for release into the Great Rift Valley Wildlife Reserve.
Learning the Management Side of Planet Zoo 2
Part 1 focused heavily on exploring the Great Rift Valley Wildlife Reserve. Part 2 shifts back into the zoo itself.
Alice explains that zoo management involves more than simply building habitats. Animal welfare, guest experience, breeding programs, and conservation all form part of running the zoo.
That becomes clear very quickly when the first construction project begins.
Building the Aardvark Habitat
The zoo has an area reserved for a new aardvark habitat.
The first requirement is a staff gate so employees can enter the enclosure. A barrier then completes the basic habitat boundary, followed by a path connecting the gate back into the rest of the zoo.
Viewing windows are added so guests can see the animals without compromising the enclosure.
Before the aardvarks arrive, the habitat also needs the essentials: a food station and access to clean drinking water. The natural dip in the terrain becomes a watering hole, with a water pump added to connect it to the filtration network.
Moving in the Aardvarks
A pair of aardvarks is already waiting in the Animal Trade Center.
Staff transport them individually into their new habitat. Once they are settled, the tutorial moves beyond basic construction and into animal welfare.
Shelter gives the animals protection from the elements and somewhere private to retreat. The habitat terrain is adjusted to suit them, and enrichment is added as the finishing touch.
Strategy Takeaway
Finishing the barrier is only the start of a good habitat.
Before moving animals in, check that the enclosure has food, clean water, staff access, and guest viewing. After the animals arrive, use their welfare requirements to guide shelter, terrain, and enrichment changes instead of assuming the habitat is finished.
Building the First Shoebill Aviary
The next project introduces aviaries.
The existing area first needs cleaning before a nest can be added. Because the shoebill needs a secure enclosed flying space, roof supports are installed before completing the aviary roof.
After the structure is ready, a shoebill is adopted. Adopted animals enter the Animal Trade Center until a habitat is selected for them.
Completing this section marks the first aviary of the Career Mode run.
Expanding the Keeper Staff
With more animals comes more work.
Another keeper is hired, followed by a nearby Keeper Hut where keepers can prepare animal food. Keeping that facility close to the habitats reduces the distance staff have to travel while caring for the animals.
Preparing the Giraffe Release
The final section reconnects this zoo tutorial with the Great Rift Valley from Part 1.
One of the giraffes is being prepared for release into the Wildlife Reserve. The giraffe first goes into storage and is then assigned to a release group. Once that group is filled and marked ready for transport, staff handle the transfer.
There is an important warning here: once an animal is committed to a release group, it cannot be returned to a zoo.
That makes the system more than a simple transfer menu. The decision permanently moves that animal into the conservation side of the network.
Quick Takeaway
Aardvarks: Build the habitat first, then refine welfare after they arrive.
Shoebill: Aviaries require the additional roof-and-support system.
Staff: Expanding animal populations also means expanding keeper facilities.
Giraffes: Check the release group carefully before committing an animal.
