Madden 27 Training Camp Game 1: Stallions Win 24-0 Shutout

 

My first extended look at Madden 27 began in the Training Camp event, with the Stallions taking on LA. What started as a close defensive game eventually turned into a convincing 24-0 shutout.

The opening drive provided an encouraging first look at the offense. The Stallions mixed rushing attempts with short and intermediate passes before finishing the possession with a touchdown.

That early score proved important because the remainder of the first half became a defensive battle.

How the Stallions Defense Preserved the Shutout

LA moved the football at times, including a 30-yard completion that pushed the offense into scoring territory. However, the Stallions defense repeatedly prevented those drives from producing points.

One of the biggest moments came when LA stayed aggressive on fourth down and failed to convert. That stop protected the lead and prevented LA from building any momentum before halftime.

The Stallions entered halftime ahead only 7-0, so the game was still within reach.

What Changed After Halftime

The defensive pressure continued immediately in the second half. Another failed fourth-down attempt gave the Stallions favorable field position, and the offense eventually converted that opportunity into the second touchdown.

From there, the Stallions steadily extended the lead:

• 7-0 at halftime
• 14-0 after the second touchdown
• 17-0 following a field goal
• 24-0 after the final goal-line touchdown

LA’s passing game struggled late as the pressure continued to reach the quarterback. The Stallions finished the game without allowing a single point.

Three Tactical Takeaways

The final score was impressive, but three parts of the performance stood out:

1. Defensive pressure ended drives. LA had difficulty sustaining possessions once the Stallions began consistently reaching the quarterback.
2. Fourth-down stops created favorable field position. Those stops did more than protect the shutout—they also gave the offense shorter fields.
3. The offense avoided unnecessary risks. The Stallions did not need a huge passing performance. They took advantage of the opportunities created by the defense and gradually built the lead.

Quick Takeaway

The biggest positive from Game 1 was the Stallions’ defensive consistency. The offense did enough to build the lead, but the defense controlled the game with pressure, sacks, and important fourth-down stops.
