Silver Strand Meadows Photo Challenge 3 in Call of the Wild: The Angler requires you to find the marked photo location and catch a gold-ranked Rainbow Trout. Complete the challenge during the daytime and start with a #2 spinner.
Despite the “Photo Challenge” name, you do not need to photograph anything. You must enter the marked photo location so the objective registers, then catch the required fish from that area.

How to complete Silver Strand Photo Challenge 3
1. Activate the challenge
Visit the noticeboard at the Silver Strand Meadows Outpost and activate Photo Challenge 3. Make sure it appears as your tracked challenge before traveling to the location.
2. Find the photo location
Follow the challenge marker to the location shown in the video. Walk completely into the marked area and wait for the objective to change from finding the location to catching the Rainbow Trout.
If the location does not register immediately, leave the small objective area and walk back into it slowly from another direction.
3. Equip the spinner setup
Prepare a spinning rig and equip a size #2 spinner. The video shows the original rod and lure setup at 0:39.
Use equipment strong enough to control a gold Rainbow Trout without making the fight unnecessarily difficult.
4. Fish inside the marked area
Cast the spinner across the required water and keep it moving through the active fishing area. Try different casting angles and retrieve depths if fish are not following the lure.
Remain near the marked photo location. Catching the correct fish somewhere else in Golden Ridge may not complete the challenge.
5. Land a gold Rainbow Trout
The fish must be a gold-ranked Rainbow Trout. Bronze and silver Rainbow Trout will not complete Photo Challenge 3, so continue fishing if the first catches are below the required rank.
Once the gold Rainbow Trout is landed and registered, the challenge should award 35 reputation, 200 XP and 200 credits.
Common mistakes
- Confusing Photo Challenge 3 with one of the Silver Strand fishing challenges.
- Fishing before the photo location has registered.
- Leaving the marked challenge area.
- Attempting the challenge at night instead of during the day.
- Using an unsuitable lure instead of the recommended #2 spinner.
- Catching a bronze or silver Rainbow Trout and expecting it to count.
